Heather Trick has worked extensively on family cases that include allegations of domestic violence--often resulting in criminal charges or domestic violence injunctions. She has handled dozens of modifications of no-contact order hearings and has successfully represented numerous clients in injunction hearings, counseled clients and their significant others immediately following domestic violence arrests, and also consulted on family law issues that did not involve Domestic Violence.
Criminal Defense Lawyer
As an attorney with the Public Defender's Office in Orlando, FL from 2010 to 2014, Heather Trick defended thousands of clients facing a misdemeanor, felony, VOP, or juvenile clients. During her time at the office, Heather lead and co-counseled clients in trial on charges such as trafficking, aggravated battery, kidnapping, sex offenses, domestic violence charges, DUI, theft, burglary, and resisting and officer. She also attended numerous trainings on dealing with criminal defense issues being taught by experts from around the country.
While working as a Assistant Public Defender, Ms. Trick also led trainings for new attorneys in Orange County and Osceola County on Driving While License Suspended (DWLS), Operating a Vehicle without a Valid Driver's License (NVDL), and various other minor traffic offenses. From 2014 to 2015, Heather worked as a private criminal defense attorney with The Colbert Law firm, attended an intensive Driving Under the Influence (DUIs) seminar and handled numerous cases from the investigation stage and pre-filing through trial in Orange, Volusia, Brevard, Sumter, Polk, Seminole, and Osceola counties. In both positions, Ms. Trick handled hundreds of bond hearings, pre-trial motions, motions to suppress, motions to dismiss, and dozens of trials for her clients.

Academic & Student Code of Conduct Hearings
As an alumna of the University of Florida, Heather Trick is familiar with the state university system and their policies regarding code of conduct violations. Ms. Trick has advised and assisted clients facing code of conduct violations at the University of Central Florida as well as at local high schools.
She provides this help at all phases of the academic hearing process. It starts by meeting with the student, from there she uses the knowledge she's gained from building a defense on thousands of criminal cases to train you on your case. This is done by assembling the necessary statutes and exhibits for the students to provide to the hearing officers. She also uses her experience cross examining witnesses in Orlando, Sanford, Deland, and throughout Central Florida to aiding in writing questions for the hearing witnesses and preparing you as the student to be cross-examined.
Representation culminates in attending pre-hearing meetings, serving as an advisor during hearings and assisting throughout the proceeding as required. Preparation and practice may help save your college future, make sure that you have her experience and training on your side.
